In Office Procedures Q & A

Which in-office procedures are available at Victory Medical Clinic?

Victory Medical Clinic offers a variety of in-office procedures for your convenience. These include:

  • Electrocardiogram (EKG)
  • Pulmonary function tests/spirometry
  • Phlebotomy (blood draws for lab work)
  • Urinalysis
  • Rapid strep tests

Both Victory Medical Clinic locations are equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and procedural equipment.

What is spirometry?

A manual incentive spirometer is a hand-held device that helps you exercise your lungs and increase your breathing capacity.

The spirometer is cylindrical and made of plastic; you inhale through a mouthpiece on a tube, which creates suction that elevates a disc inside the cylinder. There’s also a gauge that gives your provider information about the strength of your lungs.

Spirometry is useful for several conditions. Your provider, for example, may recommend you exercise your lungs following chest or abdominal surgery, or after you’ve recovered from an illness like pneumonia.

Additional pulmonary function tests are available at Victory Medical Clinic as in-office procedures, including the lung diffusion capacity test to measure how well your lungs are oxygenating your bloodstream, and the bronchial provocation test, which can diagnose asthma.

What is an EKG?

An electrocardiogram measures the electrical activity of your heart. Some of the conditions an EKG can monitor include:

  • Abnormal heart rhythms
  • Enlargement of heart chambers
  • Reduced blood flow to the heart

An EKG is also used to diagnose heart attacks. If you have a heart condition or an illness that could affect the function of your heart, your provider at Victory Medical Clinic may recommend an EKG.
