Women's Health Q & A

Which conditions are of particular concern for women’s health?

Reproductive system health, pregnancy, and menopause are specific to women. Other health concerns, like heart disease, stroke, or bladder issues, are shared by men and women but affect women differently and require a female-specific approach to treatment.

Some conditions that women’s health care can address include:

  • Abnormal menstrual bleeding
  • Reproductive and breast cancers
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Yeast infections
  • Incontinence
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Uterine fibroids
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
  • Osteoporosis

The team at Victory Medical Clinic has specialized training in women’s health and can tailor treatment to meet the specific needs of women at all stages of life.

Which women’s health services are available?

In addition to the treatment of women’s health conditions, Victory Medical Clinic offers the following services:

  • Well-woman checkups
  • Sexually transmitted disease (STD) screening
  • HPV vaccinations
  • Contraceptive counseling
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Hormone replacement therapy

Medical weight loss programs, as well as lifestyle and nutritional counseling at Victory Medical Clinic, can also be tailored to meet the specific needs of women.

How often should I have a well-woman exam?

The expert providers at Victory Medical Clinic recommend that women over the age of 18 and sexually active teens have a well-woman exam every year.

A well-woman checkup allows your provider to monitor the health of your reproductive system. It’s also an excellent time to ask questions and discuss any new symptoms you may be experiencing or any other concerns you may have, such as birth control or STDs.

A yearly well-woman exam typically includes a pelvic exam and a breast exam. A Pap smear is a routine screening for cervical cancer.

Healthy women should have a Pap smear during their well-woman visit every 2-3 years, but if you’ve recently had an abnormal Pap smear, your provider may recommend that you return sooner for a follow-up Pap test.

Depending on your health history and personal concerns, your well-woman visit may also include STD screenings or additional health screenings.

If you’re a woman in need of routine preventive care, contraception, menopause management, or care for any female-specific condition, call Victory Medical Clinic today, or make an appointment online.
